
A total of 215 students from 27 Western New York high schools have been inducted into Erie 1 BOCES’ chapter of the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS).
This year’s cohort includes five seniors from Lackawanna High School. Those seniors include – with their Erie 1 BOCES Career and Technical Education program – Azjiah Elkerson (Criminal Justice), Autumn Farr (Criminal Justice), Ralph Garrett (Animal Science), Alexia Green (Criminal Justice) and Mallory Wattie (Criminal Justice).
In lieu of the traditional in-person induction ceremony, Erie 1 BOCES put together three separate videos honoring the inductees of the Harkness, Kenton and Potter career and technical centers. Each video includes remarks by administrators and a candlelight ceremony. Visit

In order to qualify for acceptance into NTHS, a student must be nominated by his or her teacher, have a 90 percent or higher average in their career and technical education (CTE) course, and maintain an overall grade point average (GPA) of 85. Furthermore, students must demonstrate skill development and leadership and hone their responsibility and good character. NTHS takes a holistic approach to evaluating students’ success in the classroom.
