LCSD is proud to announce that 29 students of our Lackawanna High School students have earned the prestigious New York State Seal of Civic Readiness for the 2024–25 school year. This distinction recognizes students who have demonstrated a commitment to civic knowledge, skills and engagement.

Of the 29 recipients, three students have earned the Seal as a graduation pathway, marking a significant academic and civic achievement. Each honoree will be awarded a medal during Class Day and will proudly wear it at graduation. In addition, the Seal will be noted on their official transcripts.

This marks the third year the district has offered the Seal of Civic Readiness. In comparison, the Class of 2023 saw four students earn the distinction. The substantial increase in participation this year is attributed to expanded student access through key academic courses such as Participation in Government and AP Government, as well as involvement in the Civics Club.
