Students in Mrs. Albaneh’s class put their math and financial literacy skills to work by planning a full Thanksgiving dinner on a $150 budget!
Working in pairs, students compared prices, discussed needs vs. wants, and customized their meal plans, all while practicing real-world budgeting skills. Some students even had to revise their menus after going over budget, learning how to prioritize essentials and make smart financial decisions.
The activity wrapped up with an exit ticket where students reflected on how budgeting can help them in everyday life. Worksheets were also available in Arabic and Spanish to support all learners.
A fun, practical and empowering lesson just in time for the holiday season!
